Buildistor features
Buildistor is being built in phases, and each phase is usable on its own. Scope and selections come first, then quotes and code upgrades, then the field. Buildistor is in development, so details may change as real jobs shape it.
Project management
One project per loss
Loss address, date of loss, peril (fire or water), claim number, carrier, year built, customer, and permit date, all on the job.
Clear job status
Draft, Scope In, Waiting on Customer, Priced, Permit Issued, In Progress, Complete. Staffing waits for the permit.
Roles that fit the crew
Admin, Estimator, Scheduler, Project Manager, and Carpenter, each seeing the right jobs. Homeowners and subs are invited to one project.
Scope and customer selections
Carrier scope import
Bring in the carrier’s itemized “as is” list, or enter lines by hand. Room, trade, description, quantity, unit, and carrier unit price.
Versioned scope
The original carrier file is version 0. Each supplement is a new version, so the number the carrier agreed to is never overwritten.
Three real options
The estimator enters up to three buyable options per flagged line: store, link, SKU, description, price, and unit.
Homeowner picks
The homeowner chooses an option, or adds their own link, store, and price. The choice is time-stamped so a later price change doesn’t rewrite what they agreed to.
Allowance, delta, payer
Each line shows the allowance, the chosen amount, the difference, and who pays it.
Quoting and code upgrades
Sub quotes by trade
Electrical, HVAC, flooring, and the rest, each priced against a specific scope version.
Code-upgrade delta
Price the local code upgrade at present-day actual cost and track the difference from the allowance for the carrier.
Prior upgrades recorded
If the homeowner had already upgraded part of the house before the loss, the line records it instead of creating a chargeback.
Send the deltas back
Export a file of the deltas for the carrier. A CSV to start; it will match the carrier’s format once a sample is in hand.
Who pays
| Bucket | Who pays | When |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier allowance | Insurance | The imported “as is” line, priced to the standard for the year the house was built |
| Code upgrade | Insurance, when the policy pays ordinance and law | Today’s code costs more than the allowance, priced at present-day actual cost |
| Customer betterment | Homeowner | They picked or linked something that costs more than the allowance |
Job tracking, employees, and work done
Carpenter board
Schedule carpenters on a job by the half day, day, or week.
Tasks for subs and carpenters
Project managers hand a task to a sub by trade or to one named carpenter, and see who is on their open jobs.
Check-in with time and location
On-site check-in records the time and, when the phone has it, the location. Phone meetings count too.
Photos of the work
Photos attach to a task or a scope line, so they can always be matched back to the estimate.
End-of-day log
Carpenters, subs, and project managers log their time and what got done, so you can see each day’s progress at a glance.
AI-drafted notes
Meeting notes can be drafted with AI, and stay a draft until the project manager confirms them.
LaterPurchasing and change
Purchase orders
Materials and sub work tied back to the job and the scope line.
PlannedSupplements
New scope versions for hidden damage found once the walls are open.
PlannedDraws
A place to record draws against the job.
